Hello Buck:

Had to share an experience with you.

Yesterday I went hunting. I had the dekes all spread out and they looked like candy! I looked down at my trusty Olt call and noticed that the insert had fallen out, it is lost! I quickly ran to the nearest sporting goods store and picked up your Tall Timber II call. When I got back I counted my dekes: 1, 2.....11, 12, 13! There was a big hen sitting right in the middle of them, but even as quietly as I snuck back down the hill she paddled off and stayed there about 400 yards away, curiously quacking away. I answered with your call and after about a 30 minute conversation she paddled right back into my spread and I made her mine.

I couldn't have done it without your call! Thanks!!

Smith Family Duck Hunt

Hello...

The hunting is great all the birds are here from the north ducks &
geese...... the ducks will be pulling the pin south soon. We limited out
this morning on ducks. We went hunting this morning it was my mom's first
time hunting with us. There was three of us shooting and the limit was done
in 30 mins. It was great! Here are some pics...the calls are good...thanks,

Mr. Gardner,

My son (Harrison) has decided what he wants to be for Halloween this year. He was originally going to be Superman, but he changed his mind yesterday. He wants to be Buck Gardner! He and I were listening to one of your tapes in the truck on our way to his school - he is a first grader – working on our “10,000 quack tune-up” and he decided to go this Halloween as Buck Gardner. Over the past seven years, I have really gotten into duck hunting with my father-in-law and brother-in-law. Harrison went on his first hunt last year as a kindergartener. He loves to put on his camo, ride the four-wheeler to the blind, and call the ducks in. I know his love and passion for hunting is something we can share our entire lives. I hope to send you a picture of “Little Buck Gardner” soon. Have a great week and happy hunting; the season is just around the corner!

Hello Buck

Being somewhat new to the sport i purchased the 3 pak I II & III fowl play. Love the vids. Especilly II with all the Manitoba Hunts, I live 45 minutes west of Emerson/Pembina border crossing (were u cross) and do most of our hunting 3-5 miles from the border. There are only about 10 waterfowl hunters in our area and the most of them go to Winnipeg or Oak Hammock, so our huntng pressue is low. (I believe the low pressure makes our hunts more sucessefull) watching the vids made me purchase a call from someone that knows, the goose Hammer works like a charm and have made some limits. Being somwhat new to the sport i was excited to find that the II DVD had tips and tricks.

Gents,

Great hunt yesterday. Another special one for me as I got Maddy, my 6
year old daughter, out for her first outing of the season. We also
baptised another new member into waterfowling. The little guy in the
pictures is Josh and he is 11. He's the nephew of one of my great
buddy's and it was his first ever waterfowl hunt. He bagged his two
honkers and a hen mallard. I never fired a shot as Maddy and I just
bird watched as the rest of the crew took care of business. Best day
of the season so far! Not because of the numbers of birds but because of
the overall experience of introducing a new young hunter to the sport
and most importantly being out there with my daughter. Enjoy the

Buck & John,

During my business travels to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, I've been very blessed to have become friends with some true Christian brothers of ours. One couple has adopted me like their son and they prepare an wild game feast for me on every visit. During this last trip I had fresh moose tenderloin for the first time and it was awesome.

Here are a few pictures from a total of about 6 hours of total hunting hunting time from two different days. This time we went for a multi species hunt and.... well, shall we say.....Mission Accomplished!

It's hard to see but the picture with me holding the two Canada geese, there are fifteen ducks on the ground in front of me that range from mallards, gadwall, and widgeon. The second day we ended up with 6 snows, 4 ducks (which included two ruddy ducks and my 5th drake bufflehead, which needless to say, all of them are going on the wall), and 3 sandhill cranes. All in all, a fantastic multi species, leasurely hunt with great friends.

Dear Buck Gardner Calls,

Thank ya'll so much for your' great customer service. I've never
had such a pleasant experience with any other company. I lost the guts to
my "Mallard Magic", and there was no dispute about when or how it happened.
Buck had a brand new call in the mail the same day, and I got it two days
later. I can't believe that Buck Gardner actually talks to his customers on
the phone. There aren't many companies in today's world that are willing to
exercise individualized customer service. While trying to contact large
companies' customer service departments, I've been left on hold for
ridiculous amounts of time. Usually, I end up speaking to some Indonesian
phone operator who I can barely understand. I'm a very patriotic person,
and I believe that supporting American businesses who don't outsource jobs
(especially those in customer service) is a patriotic thing to do. Ya'll
are doing a great job at Buck Gardner Calls. Buck's "Straight Talk" CDs are
extremely helpful. I know who I'm going to buy my calls from in the future.

Hi,
My name is Kevin Booth, and fortunatly for myself and my family we live in the great state of Utah, where you and your company have seen to it that Carl Taylor has all the calls he can possibly hand out to kids.

My two youngest have been recipients of at least two different calls that I know of, the most current being the calls that you sponsored for the Delta Waterfowl Youth Day, a few weekends ago.

The New Brunswick Show

Here are some pics from The New Brunswick Show last weekend .It really was a great weekend with lots of sales via dealers .Probably direct sales from the show -50 -75 call .The one dealer next to us sold out 30 calls in 4 hrs .We will be prepared next year with more stock –live and learn .We also had lots of exposure from the demo Steve put on .As you can see, I don’t think we have a career as a side show in our future’s but we did entertain the audience and had fun doing it . Basically we went through the series of calls –hail /greeting etc.and then Steve put them together for a over view. The Quaker Boy company had a complete booth across from us .As he started his Flute calls we answered with the Cdn hammer-he really had no chance –lots of fun

Hey Buck,
Just thought I would drop a line to let you know how much we appreciated you coming to our area. To better remind you of where you had been, it was the Mills Fleet Farm store in Manitowoc Wis. You have always been kind of an idol for me and my son Sam. If you remember, Sam was the one that you sat down with before the seminar and went one on one with him on a goose call. I have a little story to tell you about this last weekend. It was September 15th and it meant that the season had opened for the youth in our area. Saturday started out cold and windy! Just right, if you know what I mean. My son Sam couldn't carry a gun yet, (not old enough til October) but he was armed to the hilt with a Buck Gardner Canada Hammer II. The ducks really weren't cooperating at all for us, but the geese were everywhere. And it seemed like there wasn't anything that Sam couldn't do with that goose call. We wound up getting 2 geese that morning all on the account of Sam's calling. It was so cool to see my 11 year old boy call in these beautiful birds. I should mention that we would have gotten a few more birds but as Sam says it. " Dad jumped the gun!" But it was so much fun just all that quality time together. The whole time we were out there Sam kept mentioning how cool it would have been if Buck were here. You had mentioned when you were here that we should send you our telephone number in case you ever made it back through this way again. When Sam heard this he nearly flipped his lid. I've been trying to keep the boys feet on the ground ever since. I tell you this to let you know that through all the traveling that you do, when it starts to get tough and the miles get so long, always remember that your touching a special little someone somewhere. And the memories they'll have of meeting the Champion of Champions is something they'll always remember! Any way here's our number just in case you make it back to Wisconsin and just happen to have your shotgun along.

First of all a BIG Congrats to Jeremy Romain who secured his Bus Ticket to the World Duck Calling Championship. I still think he was sand bagging all weekend to get his other plaques and then sealed the deal in the last contest. Jeremy your going to do awesome!! Also Todd won the Novice Duck and Rich went up to South Dakota and got a big win in the Goose and the 2 man. Here was the line up for the weekend. 12th Annual Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Festival

The 12th Annual Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Festival was held this Saturday and Sunday August 4th and 5th in Bay City Michigan. The weather was perfect for this event and there was a crowd of people that showed up to prove it. The Buck Gardner Booth was buzzing with excitement as kids ten to sixteen entered the free raffle for a guided waterfowl hunt,
with over one hundred entries counted this raffle was a big hit.Youths that came over to the booth also received pintail whistles. Products of most interest were the new SS1 and SS2 also a hot topic were the Spit Tech calls. This event also hosts the Michigan State duck and goose contests which were fun to watch and compete in. A big thanks to all the people who make this event happen.

My name is Ellis. I just wanted to pass on a congratulations to you and the rest of the boys on the Buck Gardner team. I just finished watching the movie, and it was awesome! I thought that the footage was excellent, and that the editing was very well done. The diversity of the hunts, the mixture of interviews, and the music was all excellent. I also thought that the little segment on calling ducks with Buck was well done, and it added alot to the movie. The only thing that I thought could have been added was a timber hunt. I don't know about every one else, but I enjoy seeing a timber hunt in a video. But the movie was very good with out it. I thought the theme "made in the USA" was a good one as well. I have not had a chance to see the new RNT video, but I have seen the Zink video. And I would say that your movie was just as good if not better than the Zink movie. If you could pass on a congradulations to the rest of the boys I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Buck.

It is your new Scottish friend here Iain who lives in New Zealand.

Well, opening day has come and gone and we had a great time. As you can imagine the level of ribbing regarding the duck calling reaches biblical proportions on opening day. I was accused of sounding anything like a duck! but it was later admitted that some of my calling was good. During the quiet periods I kind of worked out that I was using too much voice and not really blowing. At least I think so, because when I had a go later on, and blew more my mates said it was good but it sure as hell did not sound right to me. Anyway I will persevere and I have enjoyed the challenge. The call coach is really good especially for the cadence and I use it as I walk along the beach.

The weather on opening day very much favoured the ducks with the sun splitting the skies and there being no cloud cover. The ducks were up really high and there was no wind to speak of.

My mate Trev managed to run over his dog after he was driving back form the hide (Called Mai Mais here) and had to dash to the vet straight away. It transpired later that the dog was ok but it was left with my young dog who is a pointer and who was having her first outing to step into the role. She was not to great to begin with but soon got the hang of things and was fine for about three hours.During this time she got several ducks that were injured in the willows which was a real bonus. She then decided not to work anymore and did the same on Sunday. However I have been working away with her and she did two awesome retrieves yesterday in the river which was running pretty fast.

But on with the story. We had the usual flurry of ducks at first light and things were steady up until about 11am then picked up in the afternoon.Trev arrived back about ten and informed us the dog was going to be ok. You can imagine the level of ribbing he took! We got a few more in the evening and by the end of the day we had shot around 30 ducks. We bagged about another 10 on Sunday morning.The bag limit here in Southland is 20 on opening day and 15 thereafter.As usual there were some spectacular shots and some bloody ordinary ones!

During the day we have a plentiful supply of food. There is usually some seafood chowder at lunch and other seafood . We have breakfast cooked for us, including home kill bacon by the guy whose land we shoot on and a buddy comes in and joins us for tea. Steak and venison! So you can see how rough things are! On Saturday we were back home at 7.30 to watch the Rugby and tucked up by around 10 dreaming of doing it all again on Sunday.

Overall it was a great weekend and we were down a bit from last year but it is the camraderie of the occasion that is important. The season is open for eight weeks and I get out quite a bit but most guys don't bother after opening weekend!

Well Buck, that is roughly our story . I will attach a few pictures for you to have a look at and I would love you to come and have a shoot with us sometime. Opening day is always the first Saturday in May. I did notice some of you products on sale in a local store and could not resist buying one of your Tall Timber2 callers which I have been practicing with. Why not come on a promotional tour? Either way you would be most welcome.

Duck Hunting Baseball Players in Jackson, TN

Dear Mr. Gardner,

Thank you so much for the autographed pictures, stickers and duck calls for our senior baseball players. These boys have played really hard this year, finishing in the regular season with the best record in our district. This past week, we have been playing in the district tournament and finished third tonight. I chose tonight to give the seniors (they graduated last night) each a packet of the stuff that you sent.

The history of these boys is that they have played baseball together since they were little and played at Liberty High School for four years together and not only that, they all duck hunt and have some of your duck calls. When I mentioned this to Jason, I had hopes that you would send them something special because I believed that it would bring a smile to all of their faces (win or lose). I was right!!

Walking off the field, I asked the seniors to please stick around; that I had something for them. I told them that my husband had a friend who was a really good man and I had somthing special from him that I wanted to give them. In this picture you cannot tell that they had played their last high school ball game... they had just received something so special from a man they all know and admire. They gladly lined up at the fence, wrapped their arms around their friends, and gave me a smile... I didn't have to say cheese... they were so excited, smiles just came naturally!

You made their night! From the bottom of my heart, I truly thank you (and your staff). You will never know what this meant to me and what this meant to these five wonderful boys with such a great future ahead of them. They are very close and have wonderful parents and they are so full of talent. These boys all make good grades and work hard for what they have in life and I would have never asked for something like this from you if I didn't know that they deserved it and that they would appreciate it. I is rare that I could give them all the same gift and that would be because every single one enjoys duck hunting!! I can bet that the buper stickers are already on their vehicles and that they are still talking about their picture from you. One senior said " You couldn't have picked a group of boys that will appreciate this as much as we do."

It takes on special man to take time out of his busy schedule and actually do a favor so quickly. It worked out just perfectly. I will never forget what you did to make such a special moment happen; one that we all can treasure for the rest of our lives. I knew by listening to Jason that you were a wonderful man but now I have actually seen it for myself.

You being who you are and giving to people makes life so special. I could never repay you for this night! Thanks for making our seniors smile and thank you for being such a good man. My mother always told me that a good reputation meant so much in God's eyes and you definitely have one. You should be proud of your name and your accomplishments in life and I know that you are. I have been using your Scent Zapper scent eliminating products for the last two years and have found no other spray that works like yours. I hunt primarily in Florida and South Georgia where the weather is frequently very hot and humid. Even in the most extreme conditions, your Scent Zapper has allowed me to get closer to game and keep my presence from the wariest of noses. I just wanted to send you a little info on the Pocket Rocket I got from you last year at the waterfowl expo in Greenville, NC. I don’t really know were to start with this call, its range and working ability is dynamic. From the softest feed call to a ringing hail call, it does it all. However, I can say that I was a little skeptical when you said that the more condensation that built up in the bore the better it would sound. Well, my skepticism was quickly laid to rest during a timber hunt that included four mallards and about two inches of rain! That call never gave up, and kept spinning the birds on the wing down into the dekes until we had our limits. In my past experience's with other calls, the reeds would hang up with slightest of moisture, but not my Buck Gardner Pocket Rocket. That call will hunt as long as you have the wind for it and the sun lets you have your legal shooting time. I'm no expert, by any means, but I feel like even the greenest of waterfowlers could pick this call up and with a little practice could soon have birds locked up in the decoys. In short, I wanted to thank you guys at Buck Gardner calls for an all-around, reasonable, no worry duck call that can handle any weather or physical abuse you can put it through. Like you said, the wetter it gets, the better it works! Thanks!!

I wanted to send you a note. For the last couple of months Andy, Dave and I have been working on making the mouth pieces and bell housings for the reed assemblies that you sent us and we have begun implementing them into the general student classes. It is one of the most popular projects that I have ever done with the students. I know you will be happy to here we have enjoyed almost every general ed teacher in the building with the flock of Geese noises coming out of the wood shop. I personally have enjoyed this exercise more than anything else that I have done with the students. Thank you for the wonderful donations and we will be sending out a custom Goose call for you and yours. I even went so far as to have the instructional cd available during class to help the students learn how to use the call they just made. Needless to say, we are better at making them then calling them but we are practicing hard. I have been blowing the Buck Gardner main street every day to brush up for the upcoming comps. I came home last night and empty out my pockets and went to change my cloths and came back and found that my 8 month old little girl had my Call all slobbered down with her droll and she would not give it back so I let her play with it for a little bit.... she had that thing full of spit it was dripping out the insert bore... when I got it back the call it had no problem with running a main street routine and never once skipped a note... the true spit tech test…

I just wanted to send you a couple of pictures from our youth goose hunt this past weekend. We had 3 boys who made this hunt and they all had a good time. Unfortunately the full moon and high winds made it a difficult hunt but we did have birds come in and decoy just out of range. After the morning hunt we went back to the trailers and had a nice hot meal and gave out prizes to the youth. My son was fortunate this time and was drawn for the hunt and in his words had an "awesome day".

Just wanted to share my success story while using your Deer Caller's Combo deer grunt this past season.

My son-in-law & I had scouted out an area with good sign from what appeared to be a large buck. We had captured images of this buck on our trail camera earlier in the year so we suspected him to still be in the area but he had not shown himself. The area with the good signs was along a line that divided a pine thicket and a stand of hardwoods. I felt the only way to get him would be to get right in the middle of his area and call him out. Using your model DGRB-3-04 deer grunt, I worked the area for 2 evenings. It was getting close to dusk the second evening of using this strategy. I was about to give up for the day, stood up to stretch when he grunted back at me for the first time! The thicket he was concealed in was so dense I couldn't see him nor he me from what I gathered. I "mocked" him using your grunt call & this made him mad! I could hear him trashing around in the thicket between his grunts. I mocked his same noises angering him even more to the point I thought he was going to burst out on top of me! I could hear him working down my right side towards a clearing in the trail about 40 yards away. At this point I heard a grunt from another buck in the same thicket to my left! I continued to grunt & work the first buck. I knew he was about to show himself because I could now see brush moving. He stepped half out, head down & ready to charge. All I saw was rack! Concentrating on the shot I hit him dead on behind the right front shoulder as soon as it was exposed.
I could not have bagged this trophy without the life-like sounds generated using your product. Needless to say, I'll now have this grunt call around my neck on every deer hunt.

Forgive me for bragging, but...
I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time on Tuesday, Dec. 26 and killed this nice 8-pointer in Fayette County, TN.
As all good deer hunting stories go, my original plans changed. I originally, was going to hunt another location in Fayette County, but due to changing weather conditions, decided to take the day off. Then, a friend coaxed me into going with he and his wife and at 8:30 A.M. out stepped this nice buck. We estimate that it weighed close to 200 pounds.
Of course, being the man in the field for Buck Gardner Call and Polarwrap, two of Memphis' finest based companies, I used one of Buck Gardner's new Rattlin Bags and Grunt to coax the buck into shooting range, and, you know it, I was wearing Polarwraps's Toasty Feet, Cap Insulator and Exchanger Mask.

My First Buck by Bradd Finch

I was drawn earlier in the year for a deer hunt at Tennessee's ReelfootLake, Grassy Island National Wildlife Refuge. I was veryexcited because it is hard to get drawn and it was the first time I ever put in for the drawing.

I entered the woods on 11/11/06 at approx. 1pm. I had scouted the area pretty well and I went to a spot where there were lots of trails, and in particular, 2 big rubs. I climbed up the tree and I waited. Around 4:30 pm I saw a doe, she came swimming across a flooded creek bed right in front of me. I had never seen a deer swim before, so that was a great sight. I thought of taking her, but I thought better of it and let her walk. About 45 minutes later it was gettin almost time to call it a day, I thought I saw a deer in the distance, so I grabbed my Buck Gardner rattle bag and young buck grunt. I must have said the magic words in deer language because he came charging in at 30 yards and stopped at the creek in front of me. I knew he was a buck, because I could see a silhouett of his antlers. I shouldered my Model 70 300 win. mag. and put the perfect shot on him. He dropped in his tracks. When I climbed down, it was totally dark and my flashlight was going dead. I shined my weak light over there and I dropped my head. I thought I had shot a doe. I went back to my tree to get some new batteries and went back to see the deer again. this time I saw 4 points sticking up on on side. I immediately waded the waters and was surprised to see the buck of a lifetime for me. It was a huge 10 point with a 19 1/4" inside spread. It was my first buck ever! My buddies told me it's all downhill from there. They said jokingly, get ready to be dissappointed at the next buck you see, because you just cant ask for much better than that on public land in Tennessee. I took many pictures of him the next day and then I lost my camera, luckily my sister-in-law had taken this pic with her camera. What really bothered me most about losing my camera wasn't that I lost my pictures of the deer, but I lost pictures of my 3 year old daughter posing with the deer. But overall, the story has a happy ending for me.

Here is some GREAT pictures of our Sat. hunt(11/11/06). I was hunitng 7 guys with me maid 8. We had 40 birds down and picked up by 7:25 am, that is everyone liminting out in less that an hour. This hunt took place at our lease in Bowie, Texas. Most important is I sold everyone in my group a BG call!!!!! They loved the way they sounded.

I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks. Last duck season a friend of mine talked me into going duck hunting for the first time. I had never hunted ducks before, though it makes sense to, I hunt everything else. I didn't know anything about it though, someone offering to show me the ropes sure helped cut the confusion. He covered the basics and we were off. It wasn’t bad, but not what I was expecting. I didn’t see the results I thought we would.
I started asking around for tips, and going more often thinking it had to be better than this. Tip one was decoys, ok no sweat, a few of several different types of ducks and we are off. Next tip was a call, this really presented a problem, I know not all calls are created equal. I knew nothing of calling ducks, I can call elk, moose, deer, coyote, and Turkeys with no trouble what so ever, but ducks, I didn’t even know what they sounded like. I bought your Straight Talk cd and it came with Mallard Magic call and your 6n1. That and a few hours of practice the decoys and I was getting to at least getting them in close enough to tell a Mallard from a teal.
This year's season opened here the other day. I had picked up your Double Nasty II call in the spring and I have had all summer to play with it. My first hunt this year and I had ducks in the boat. Literally turning ducks around and bringing them straight to my decoys. I still have a lot of trouble with the feeding sounds but the other calls on your cd work extremely well for me.
My buddy that got me into duck hunting used that laughing method to call, I thought he could use some help so I got him a cd of his own. He and I are working different shifts, with different days off, but we will hunt together every chance we get, and I would bet we will have much better luck.

I’m having more and more of a difficult time finding quality acrylic calls that operate as well in the field CONSISTENTLY as they do when you give ‘em a brief workout at home. I have several that sound and operate great there only to have them STICK out in the field. NOT GOOD! Fortunately I always carry a couple with me so I’m not caught with my pants down at that crucial moment when birds are working. Catch my drift?

Anyhow I thought you should here that. This Double Nasty call will compliment the Tall Timber one I have already.

Manitoba Duck and Goose Hunt

Buck,

We saw your rig parked at the Baldwin Super 8 Sunday moring at 5 am. We were
staying there too. We were returning from an area about 187 miles northwest
of Winnipeg after a 5 day hunt for ducks and geese. We were helping to start
the fall migration. The attached photo was taken 9/29/06.

I must say the entire family was excited about doing our first seminars for Buck Gardner Calls. We had everything loaded up and ready the night before so we could hit the road right after work on Friday. The day dragged on for Bridget, Jade and me and finally 5 bells rang and I was off to pick up the girls. We grabbed a quick bite and off we went.

Leaving Northeast Nebraska at 5:30pm to drive all the way across the state might not have been the best plan but it the only option we had.

We arrived around 1:30 AM Central Standard Time or as we found out 12:30 AM Mountain Standard Time. We unloaded and everyone tried to get some shut eye before the big day. All of us were up and ready to go check out the store.

I was impressed with how well everything looked, even the ducks and geese on the pond.

The geese would be our classic definition of Parkies (park geese that are not very afraid of humans).

These two had other plans when they saw me approach and decided they better head to friendlier waters. It couldn't have been the way I was eyeing those bands now could it?

The entrance of the Cabelas Store has a wonderful statue of two bull elk fighting and just puts you right into the outdoors mood.

We had a little bit to check out the store and the hunting area that we would be giving the seminars in and also had a chance to go outside and see where the calling contest was going to be held. At that point Jade decided she was going to enter the contest. At that point no one else had signed up in her division so I think that had a little something to do with it. She got signed up and then her and my wife decided they better get something to eat. I went into the store and got ready to give my first seminar for buck Gardner Calls.

I met two individuals from Avery Outdoors that were very helpful and knowledgeable about the products they were supporting. Inside the were making an announcement for the seminar and a few kids showed up to learn how to make a duck call.

I tried to go about the class very relaxed and to show the kids it didn't matter how they sounded on the call only that they were going to have fun doing it. It was amazing how fast some of the kids picked it up.

Even the girls were getting into it and doing a great job.

This little gal was 4 years old and I think her mom was pretty darned proud of how well she was doing.

I did my best to go around to each kid that was there and listen to them on their quack and their cluck. The first one under my belt I was feeling very good about how well the kids took to calling.

I headed outside to hook up with Jade and see if she was ready for the contest. She had a few nerves as anyone would and I told he it's just a bunch of ducks so no big deal. Hail em hard, greet sweet and feed em down. She laughed at me and said yeah like it's that easy. We did some mimic calling to put her at ease and get her warmed up. At nine she never fails to amaze me. We were sitting there and recalled it was almost a year to the day that she blew in her first contest. It was at the Ponca Expo where Jade met Buck and took his seminar. Buck was nice enough to sign two Delta Waterfowl prints for her and those are still hanging in her room today. The announcer called for the youth callers and it was go time.

There was one 12 year old boy that was entered in the contest with her. She was nervous and so was he. It was his first contest and he did a great job on the stage. Jade got up and I think I was more nervous then her but after that first hail call things settled down. She only blew about half her routine (nerves got the best of her) and was worried it wouldn't be good enough. I told her I think she sounded better but it would be up to the judges if it was long enough.

Trea ended up taking second and Jade taking first. It was her first contest win and she was very happy to have won it. It is really neat to me that she competed for the first time after meeting Buck then wins her first contest while I am out doing Seminars for Buck. My hats off to Cabelas and the judges of the contest. My trip was made with Jade winning the contest but I had to get back to doing what I was there for.

Back inside the store one four year old boy and his dad came up between seminars and ask if he was to young to take the class. I told him if he could hold the call he could sure give it a go. The 4 year old boy commenced to telling me we should only kill daddy ducks and not mommy ducks or we won't have any daddy ducks left. I have spent a lot of time with kids but this little guy just made my whole day. I was on cloud nine already with Jade winning and this little guy just put me up there a few more notches. In no time he was blowing a voot through the call and sound A OK. Off to the three blind mice we went. He said the nursery rime a few times and then he tried to do it through the call. I think all the people around the counter were surprised when he did it and it sounded darn good. We worked on that for a bit then moved one to a cluck. Tic wasn't working real well so he tried saying da and after a little work with him blowing harder it sounded great.

His father thanked me and I told him no thanks necessary. Little guys like him were the reason I become part of Buck Gardners outfit and Buck's commitment to kids. I stayed around the store for a while then headed outside. I had missed this little guy sitting down in the decoys and calling ducks. Everyone I talked to said he was doing a great job and they couldn't believe he was only 4.

Day two arrives and all of us were a little better rested and ready. I didn't think it would be possible to surpass day one but we were going to give it a shot.

I had my helper for the whole day and we were ready to have some fun. The first class we had about 6 kids and Jade did a great job helping out. I did the same thing as the day before and did my best to help each kid out with a few seconds of one on one and listened to them all. In my mind they all were great and that is all that mattered. Chris Jones and Jerrod Watson from Avery Outdoors were a great help to me and help us pass the time between seminars. Both are very knowledgeable outdoors men and I look forward to our paths crossing again.

Hey Buck and Brad.....and rest of gang.
I need a little help with my DNXL I got last year. I seemed to have lost some of the bottom end. It is begging to take quite a bit more air to get it to "break". I have absolutely loved this call......only thing I am blowing beside the NEW TALL TIMBER Chad sent me a couple weeks back. Man you guys have really done a good job. The RNT and Echos are in the safe......probably gone to the first person that wants to buy them.
Funny story from last weekend, a bunch of guys in our area have a "warm up" calling contest, which I have not entered in about 10 years, been on the judgin' end. I decided to put some "Gardner" music on them this year. The standard calling contest I ended up 3rd with the XL, really hacked off about 15 of them when they saw I was blowin' double reed. (I think I could have placed 1 or 2 if I could have gotten a little nastier with it. Then we had the " meat" callin', and I won that one with the Tall Timber. This is the first win in our "non-sactioned" meet that was not RNT, Gaston, or Echo in guess ever. We were sittin' and liein' to one another over a cold one, when I really blew their minds, cause I stuck the Timber in the cooler of water, then blew it. HA! you should have seen their faces.
Let me know if you can do a retune on the DNXL. I don't think I should try foolin' with the double reed.

Joel got this picture of me in the pouring down rain Saturday while teal hunting, I was told by several people that it looked like a good commercial ad picture. I photo-shopped the Spit tech logo on it in both black and white and color. Thought it was pretty cool because even in the pouring down rain the calls were still sounding nice and snotty and not sticking. Perfect spit tech moment.

Buck,
I've given the Pocket Rocket some good workouts. I've run water in it, put it in the freezer when it was wet, tried to load it up with saliva etc. and it never has stuck or frozen up on me. I'm not much on doing ringing hail calls so I didn't try that too many times but it will do them with no trouble. It really does the chatter call (feed) well. Good crisp notes. The greeting, come back, & quacks are very clear.....hard, soft or in between. It's really easy to control the volume. It's one of the easiest calls to use that I've tried. I'm just a duck hunter, been at it since 1966. I would rate the Pocket Rocket a 10 all the way. I can hardly wait to see how the ducks respond to it. I think it will really be a good seller @ $30-35.00 for the duck hunters that want a quality call for a reasonable price. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to try your call. I think my two grandsons are going need one too when you get them up for sale. Great Job and Thanks for all the work you do for us duck hunters!!!
